  • This session will include a moderated panel discussion on the legislative and regulatory issues regarding 1,4-dioxane. New York recently passed legislation banning the sale of cleaning products that contain certain levels of 1,4-dioxane. California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control has begun the stakeholder process for 1,4-dioxane as part of its Safer Consumer Products Program. The panel will include industry experts as well as the boots-on-the-ground that were involved in discussions in Albany and Sacramento. Panel participants will discuss best practices, lessons learned, and effective strategies for combating restrictive policies not rooted in sound science.

  • Retailers are increasingly asking their trading partners to reformulate product lines to remove entire classes of chemicals rather than just one specific ingredient. For example, several are phasing out formaldehyde-donors, phthalates, nonylphenol ethoxylates and parabens.
