5th Annual Innovation Award

Presented by the Sustainability and Product Stewardship Council

Selection Process

Presented during the Annual Meeting, the 5th Annual Innovation Awards recognize members of the household and commercial products industry for accomplishments in product innovation and sustainability. By recognizing these accomplishments, HCPA aims to support industry leadership in developing the next generation of products and promote innovation that helps our industry transition to an environmentally and socially sustainable economy.

Nominees will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to meeting attendees during a poster session, who will then vote on a submission to win the Association Award. For more information about the poster session, please email Molly Blessing.

Companies may submit nominations for five award categories, which will be evaluated by the Board of HCPA’s Sustainability and Product Stewardship Council (SPSC). Winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting.

The five award categories in which the Innovation Awards will be granted are:

  1. Ingredients: Submissions in this category should highlight new ingredients or re-formulated products that use ingredients that reduce overall risk to human health and the environment.
  2. End-User Communication: Submissions in this category should highlight communications campaigns, labeling, advertising, or awareness about household and commercial products that educate and empower consumers in new and creative ways.
  3. Technology: Submissions in this category should highlight technological developments, such as new software platforms, manufacturing equipment, delivery or dispensing methods, or materials that create overall efficiencies in the manufacturing, processing, sale, and use of products.
  4. Circular Economy: Submissions in this category should highlight processes and practices, materials, packaging, or other relevant areas that demonstrate a circular economy, including how the end product is comparable to or better than non-circular alternatives and commercial viability.
  5. Carbon Footprint: Submissions in this category should highlight processes and practices, materials, packaging, or other relevant areas that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the household and commercial products sector.
