Clive Davies leads a team of scientists advancing EWG’s rigorous standards for personal care, cleaning, baby products and mattresses through the EWG Verified® and EWG Reviewed for Science™ programs.
With a focus on ingredient safety, transparency and health, he works to shift the marketplace toward healthier products. Building on EWG’s groundbreaking Skin Deep® and Guide to Healthy Cleaning databases, his work supports EWG’s public health mission. Under his guidance, EWG Verified will continue to be a strong source for consumers seeking science-backed, safer product choices.
Before joining EWG, Davies led the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program, which identifies products made with ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment. The program also evaluates antimicrobial products seeking the EPA’s Design for the Environment certification for strict health and safety criteria.
Davies led the Design for the Environment division for many years. He earned his bachelors of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Rhode Island.
