Kayla Messier Jones is an Innovation Analyst at RTI International where she specializes in sustainable formulation and product innovation in the consumer products sector. Kayla has over 8 years of experience leading brands to identify emerging ingredient technologies, develop safer chemistry strategies, and implement sustainability initiatives that drive both business value and environmental protection. Before joining RTI in 2021, Kayla oversaw coating systems implementation at the Naval Surface Warfare Center and later transitioned to a sustainability-focused startup where she formulated and brought to market over 175 home care, air care, personal care, and cosmetic products for major private label clients and retailers. Kayla is particularly passionate about helping companies navigate the transition from chemicals of concern to safer alternatives while maintaining product performance and prioritizing consumer satisfaction. Her technical background in Polymer and Color Chemistry from North Carolina State University's Wilson College of Textiles combined with a STEM-MBA from the NC State Jenkins School of Management enables her to identify viable alternative ingredients, develop proactive chemical monitoring and communication strategies, and create roadmaps for sustainable innovation.
