Lauren Duffy
Growing up in a coastal Florida town affected by agricultural runoff, Lauren Duffy developed a keen awareness of how the environment affects our health, a foundation that drives her work connecting research, policy and consumer education. At EWG, Lauren assesses chemical safety, sets science-based standards, and upholds the credibility of EWG’s research. Before joining EWG, Duffy led chemical reviews for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program. Duffy holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in environmental toxicology from Clemson University.

Retailer Recognition to Active Advocacy: EWG Verified and Safer Choice Updates and Discussion

Laurent Duffy, Senior Director of EWG Verified, will provide an in-depth look at the latest developments in the EWG Verified certification program. The session will specifically cover recent updates to the program, plans for future growth, and strategies for expanding its impact in the marketplace. Attendees will also learn about the role EWG Verified plays in retailer recognition initiatives, including programs such as Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly, and how certification can enhance product visibility, consumer trust, and sustainability credentials.
This session is designed for brands, manufacturers, and retailers seeking to better understand the evolving landscape of certification programs and the opportunities they present for promoting safer, more sustainable products.
Following the EWG presentation, HCPA will share updates on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice program, highlight the Association’s ongoing advocacy work to preserve and support the program, and facilitate a member discussion to address concerns and help guide future advocacy initiatives.
