Scott Mackey
Scott Mackey brings two decades of experience leading strategic initiatives across politics, international development, sustainability, and technology. From 2017 to 2021, Scott built the retail division at SmarterX from the ground up, securing strategic partnerships with top retailers. He returned to SmarterX in 2025 to deepen and expand retail relationships, while leading the company's efforts to develop value-added, sustainability-focused tools for CPG brands. In his free time, Scott is a novelist, fly fisherman, and volunteers on nonprofit boards and advisory councils.

Building Trust and Transparency: Certifications for Safer, More Sustainable Products
As the demand for safer, more sustainable products grows, credible certifications and clear product claims are critical to building market trust. This session will feature:
- Doug Gatlin on updates to Green Seal’s certification process, the launch of a new Household Sanitary Paper certification, and plans for Version 2.0 of the Green Seal Standard.
- Gavin Macgregor-Skinner on the Making Safer Choices project, key research findings, and the potential of digital product passports.
- Scott Mackey on how AI can streamline compliance checks and support scalable, sustainable chemistry.
The session will conclude with an interactive discussion led by HCPA’s Government Relations team on the EPA’s Safer Choice advocacy efforts.
