
Senator Malcolm Augustine
Born on March 10, 1969, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Augustine graduated from Pittsford Mendon High School in New York in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University in 1991 .
Senator Malcolm L. Augustine is a Democratic member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 47 in Prince George’s County. He has served in the Senate since January 9, 2019, and was elected President pro tempore in January 2023, making him one of the chamber’s top leaders.
In the Senate, Augustine has focused on healthcare, environmental policy, transportation, and public safety. He has introduced legislation on mental health access for minors, Medicaid dental coverage, and environmental protections, including leading the passage of an EPR program in the state.

Augustine has a diverse background in business development and entrepreneurship. He worked as an Operations Support Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1991 to 1993. He co-founded Alliance Telcom and served as Managing Director from 1993 to 1995. At Eltrex Industries, he was Executive Vice President of Customer Relations from 1996 to 2003. He also held roles at Gyde Communications and founded MDiagnostix, LLC, a mobile medical imaging company. Since 2006, he has been the Director of Business Development at Intra-Mail Network.
Augustine resides in Cheverly, Maryland, with his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters.
