Senior Sustainability Manager, Sonoco Products Company

Michael Pratt is a Senior Sustainability Manager at Sonoco Products Company. He supports Sustainability efforts for all of Sonoco’s North American business units including fiber and metal packaging for consumer and industrial applications.  Michael advises on industry trends such as post-consumer recycled content, chemical recycling, and material design guides.  He also participates in industry associations such as AMERIPEN, AF&PA, and SPC.  Michael has spent over ten years in the packaging industry with Sonoco including in manufacturing operations and Sustainability. He holds a BS in Packaging Science from Clemson University.

As the demand for sustainable packaging grows, the metal packaging industry is focused on improving recycling outcomes and increasing the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. With a particular emphasis on aerosols, this session will bring together experts from across the supply chain to explore the challenges and opportunities in recycling, the current state of the U.S. recycling infrastructure, and ongoing efforts to overcome these barriers. Through an interactive format, attendees will be invited to consider these issues, both as industry professionals and consumers, gaining a broader perspective on how industry can work toward a more circular and sustainable future for metal packaging.
